About Active Options
Active Options is a resource to help older adults, health care providers, information
and assistance specialists, and others identify appropriate and accessible physical
activity programs for older adults. This website will also help physical activity program
providers reach and recruit more older adults into their programs, and will help
them identify gaps in the programs currently being offered in a community.
How Does It Work?
Active Options data is entered by local physical activity program providers.
These program providers have visited the Active Options site, created accounts,
and completed the physical activity survey, which gathers information on
the types of programs and opportunities for physical activity that are offered in
a variety of settings.
Once the program information has been entered into the survey, the Active Options
Community Champion that has been identified for the community ensures that the information
collected is accurate and publishes the data in the searchable, public database.
When the information has been published by the Community Champion, anyone can
search for local programs that will meet their specific needs for health and wellness.
Community Champions
Community Champions are local resource people who are committed to increasing
physical activity opportunities in their community. Find out more about Active Options Community

at each individual setting to provide further details on programming.
